We interviewed our KEYNOTE speaker today - Victor Ludlow! He told us about his study he personally designed so we took all of our equipment to his house and interviewed him in his amazing office/study. It was beautiful. We actually had a miss communication and showed up 45 minutes late. He graciously welcomed us in and allowed us to take over his room. His new wife, Cheryl, came in just as we were starting and watched his presentation. WOW what an experience! He had us laughing, engaged and crying. He taught us about how to follow the spirit and what is the first things we should learn. He talk about our call to learn - to learn what? the key principles of truth and then he explained what they were with scriptures and stories. He concluded with how to do it. It will be our first presentation on October 24th at 1pm and will be available to watch for two full weeks. I believe you are going to love this presentation.

Donna had two presentations prepared and was nervous to have an interview but was very willing to try. She said she was going to pretend that she was just talking to me. "Perfect," I responded. Her first presentation was on the workings of Power of an Hour, which was an solution to a problem she had. She found that an hour a day of schooling was enough. Her second presentation was the difference between shepherd parenting and sheep herder parenting. She told some amazing stories, in fact, one of them really affected me on a spiritual level. Through that story I received an answer that I had been for for a long time. You will enjoy her message. We had a simple recording session with ToriAnn. Her presentation was polished and ready to go. All we needed to do was hook her up. :) ToriAnn's passion is talking and helping new homeschoolers get through their decision making process and first year better. She shared some wonderful messages about personalities, learn languages and a guide to picking out curricula for each of your children. If you are thinking about homeschooling or just starting, this message is for you. I invited Becky to be apart of this conference because during a conversation I had with her earlier in the year. I felt a connection with her and felt she would be a good addition. She came with no specific agenda so we "winged it." We got to learn about her life, her childhood, family, meeting her husband and her decision to homeschool. She was genuine, happy and full of great stories. Her main message became that of being strong in your family relationships. She taught us about humanitarian work and how her family has been involved with many humanitarian events. Karl came into the home taller than expected. :) He sat down and discussed his two presentations in detail and then we went in to the studio room. I did the introduction with him. I found that I ran out of questions faster because he did not have any children. But quickly found more when we talked about the children's books he had written. Karl completed the first presentation with me about the Book of Mormon. He had successfully learned German by using the Book of Mormon. I especially loved his vocabulary (glossary) list at the back of his book. He also wrote the pronoun charts at the front. His next presentation was given presentation style at first and soon found that it wasn't flowing or alive as we wanted. David sat down with him and asked him questions while he gave his presentation. It was so much better. You're going to enjoy learning about the humanities and how ideas of how to teach them in your home. I invited Heidi to be apart of this conference because of her new LDS program she was putting together. I had heard about it through a mutual friend and looked over her website. I was impressed with the simpleness of it and how she brought the gospel into everything. I also was impressed with the fireside speakers she had lined up. Heidi came in excited and bubbly, I had personally imagined a quiet and shy woman. :) We hit it off and began to prepare for the presentation and how the experience would happen. As I asked her questions and listened to her I noticed she wasn't as bubbly as she was without being in front of the camera - she didn't use her hands as much. Soon she relaxed and we were on a role. You will learn about the reason why started her website and her passion from bringing in the gospel everywhere. :) You will also receive several ideas to enhance your families education. After she left we went through the recording and found that we had not hooked up the audio. Thank goodness we had a backup! the sound quality is not as good with the back up, but you will get the whole presentation. David Barker has become a favorite uncle to me. He is friendly, very complimentary and always asking me about my family. He was comfortable from the very beginning. We had a few difficulties with his slides and being about the see them while the presentation was being recorded. When we figured that out we were in for a treat. David wowed us all. He presented his content standing up and with creativity and interaction. we sat behind and engaged with his presentation (you'll hear us react and make comments). It was a delight to work with David, he was very prepared and organized. :) In this presentation you are going to learn about evolution, what it is and what it is NOT. It was a great presentation. Livia arrived a half an hour early, right when we were starting our dinner break. :) She waited patiently. She also brought with her a basket full of things. It was exciting and brought in much curiosity - let's get to the presentation right away! Of course, we couldn't. :( After getting mic'd up and camera ready we finally got to the presentation. She talked about many different ideas she used to help her family get prepared for the day. She also talked about books she used and ideas for day time and evening. I was impressed. She brought me into her life and I wanted to become a part of her family too. :) She shared great ideas that I know you'll enjoy too. I especially loved the "Power Up Chair" and the "Mom and Me Journal."
Joyce Kinmont share the events that led up to the first LDS Homeschool Conference. She talks about the experiences around the beginning of the first conference. She and Jack Monnett visit together about what it was like during beginning of of the LDS Homeschool Movement.
