New Conference Look and Feel
We are choosing to make the conference an online conference Reason 1) to effectively reach and inspire more Saints in far away places. Reason 2) it is a better choice for us, health wise. If Thom were to end up back in the hospital (like he did a few weeks ago) at any given time. It would be easier to cancel a small filming than it would to contact everyone with a cancelation of a full event. Here is the plan. We will be interviewing (sitting down with) each presenter for a two hour time period. Here they will share their message and tips and we will be asking them questions that they have proposed, we have come up with and the audience has asked. We will be filming from Sept. 13 through October 8th. Then we will edit each of the videos. We will air them beginning October 24th through Nov. 4th. There will be opportunities to advertise or do commercials and digital flyers for those that want to get news and/or their product/service to our audience. This will be a free event for those two weeks at which time they can opt in to purchase a membership where they can view all of them for the past 6 years. We will also be promoting a family church history tour. New Conference Name The Conference name is being changed to Called to Learn conference. We have decided this because the LDS church has asked a few of our friends to change their name or to take out the LDS in their titles and a friend that works for the church educational system has told us that they strongly discourage using LDS in the title. Therefore, before we “get the call” we want to change it now to avoid logo and naming in the future. The LDSHomeschoolConference.com website will still remain active and will direct people to the new web page, CalledToLearn.com. We chose Called to Learn because it describes what we are about - we feel learning is a calling not just to learn, but to better ourselves our family and others too. ;) Mission of Called to Learn
Why did you change the name from LDS Homeschool Conference to Called to Learn? The Conference name is being changed to Called to Learn conference because the LDS church has asked a few of our friends to change their name or to take out the "LDS" in their titles and a friend that works for the church educational system has told us that they strongly discourage using LDS in the title. Therefore, before we “get the call” we want to changed it to avoid logo and renaming in the future. We chose Called to Learn because it describes what we are about - we feel learning is a calling not just an option. Learning helps us better ourselves, our family and all our other brothers and sisters too. :) This change has been good for two reasons, now we can open up to more LDS families, not just homeschoolers and two, we can bring in a variety of presenters. Our focus is three fold:
