Language is a Gift of God, how are using your gift? When you use your language you have to use your tongue. Nicholeen shares ways we can keep control of our tongue and become agents for God in bringing about goodness to the world. The first things is we need to master our vocabulary. She shares a quotation her father often told her, “Master your mother tongue and you’ll make a mark upon the world that will be noticed.” She later came to believe that meant to control your words/vocabulary and the way you say things and understand things. The act of Self Mastery: 1 - understand cause and effect 2 - care what others think of you 3 - constantly analyze ME She then gave us five ways to improve our communication.
History is relative. Dianne shows us how to make history more exciting and real - by talking about the people they connect to - their relatives. She invited us to not just look for names, dates and places, but to make it real by use tools. Some of these tools included:
The point that sparked my interest was when she said that we could have our children take the information we collected and create a story. This could be done as a fictional character in the non-fiction setting or about the ancestor that was at that time. When a child has a personal connection to history they enjoy it more and remember it too. Experience is NOT the best teacher, Refection leads to transformation.
