These are my notes from today's conference presentations: After Moroni wrote on his ripped coat he put on his armor, ready to fight and then he knelt down to pray. What can you learn from this? I learn that I need to get ready, to do the work to accomplish my goal and to not forget to pray for strength and to know his will as I go to battle or gather the troops. Here are some statements Alex made:
Some are predicting the future of education is having no more formal education and that we will be able to earn education points by the online classes we take, book we read, people we meet, etc. Basically by learning you are earning points you can use to get jobs. Now contrast this with God’s plan of knowledge and wisdom. Consider the source. One is from venture capitalist, politician, “stakeholders” etc. who are writing the curriculums being taught and the other is direct revelation from God above. These entities want to educated you from cradle to grave and they are anti-God, anti-country, and anti-family. Jenny finishes her presentation with the plea to KNOW the source of education you are giving your children. She reminds of how God set up our education system with mom teaching the little children and dad taking over the education after that. She encouraged us to “weary not by the way,” to find joy in patience and to stay the course on God’s plan of education. Here are the links to the sources she mentioned:
Education means to lead out of you or to lead you out of ignorance. Liber means bark which makes books. So a Liber Education was for free people. You don’t get an education to be a servant. It use to be you got an education to be free and now an education is to help you get a job. Basically a Liber education (thinking skills) is made up of: The Trivium - grammar (input), logic (process), rhetoric (output). The Quadrivium - arithmetic (study of number), geometry (study of number in space), music (study of number in time), astronomy (study of number in space and time) The modes of Persuasion 1 - Ethos - your reputation, character, beginning 2 - Logos - reasoning, logic, your argument, presentation 3 - Pathos - sympathy, feelings, the emotional appeal, ending Christopher ends with his pathos statement, “We owe it to our children to teach them these tools so they can be educated so they can be free.”
