According to Isaiah, Living Water is spiritual nourishment. Living water is living because it comes from Christ, the Source of all righteousness. Living water is found all around, in the temples, in chapels, in baptismal fonts, etc. (see Isaiah 40:19)
In my CES Isaiah class we studied Isaiah 41:18-19 which reads: I will open rivers in high places [living waters in the temples], and fountains in the midst of the valleys [churches]: I will make the wilderness a pool of [living] water, and the dry land springs of [living] water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together: There is both a physical and a spiritual interpretation for these verses: Physical Interpretation: It is written of the Salt Lake valley, it will not be foresaken, the valley will be full of many types of trees (every street and every property will have trees); it is a stunning valley! Brigham Young said that the population of the west will far surpass that on the East side. Spiritual Interpretation: Living Water is found all around, in the temples, chapels, in the baptismal fonts, etc. There will be many temples and chapels (verse 18), Trees are a symbol for growth provided by living water. Trees provide shade, rest, nourishment and materials from which we can spiritually built our lives. God wants us to be filled, satisfied, uplifted and he has given us living water (trees) for that purpose. President Romney linkened the Book of Mormon to living water,“But there is another reason why we should read [The Book of Mormon]. By doing so we will fill and refresh our minds with the constant flow of that ‘water’ which Jesus said would be in us—‘a well of water springing up into everlasting life.’ (John 4:14.) We must obtain a continuing supply of this water if we are to resist evil and retain the blessings of being born again." Isaiah also reminds us of when Moses with the help of God brought water to the thirsty Israelites. Not only physical water but also spiritual or living water. "And they thirsted [spiritual thirst] not when he [Moses] led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out." They never had to thirst physically nor spiritually for God provided them with water and living water. Here the lyrics to a song that talks about living water: There Is A River Words and Music by Max and David Sapp There is a river that flows from deep within. There is a fountain that frees the soul from sin. Come to these waters, there is a vast supply. There is a river that never shall run dry. There came a sound from Heaven, like a mighty rushing wind. It filled their hearts with singing and gave them peace within. The Master gave this promise, the Spirit will descend And from your inner being a river with no end. There came a thirsty woman, who was drawing from a well. Her life was ruined and wasted, her soul was bound for Hell. But then she met the Master, who told of her great sin And if you’ll drink this water, you’ll never thirst again. There is a river that flows from God above. There is a fountain, that’s filled with His great love. Come to the water, there is a vast supply. There is a river, that never shall run dry. That never shall run dry.
